The ecological flow of 15 sections of the main stream and 6 tributaries of the Yellow River all reached the standard, and the area of marshland at the estuary increased by 1,627 hectares.

　　CCTV News:The Ministry of Water Resources announced today (September 18th) that the Yellow River Basin has made phased progress in ecological environment improvement and water-saving development since the strategy of ecological protection and high-quality development was put forward two years ago.

　　In terms of strengthening ecological protection, in the past two years, through ecological regulation, the ecological flow of 15 sections of the main stream and 6 tributaries of the Yellow River has all reached the standard, the ecology of key lakes and wetlands has continued to improve, and the wetland area at the estuary has increased by 1627 hectares.

　　In terms of strengthening water management, in the past two years, the water-saving evaluation of planning and construction projects has been comprehensively promoted, and the annual water intake of the project has been reduced by 44.34 million cubic meters. According to statistics, in 2020, the water consumption per 10,000 yuan of GDP, 10,000 yuan of industrial added value and the average irrigation water consumption per mu in the Yellow River Basin will decrease by 3.4%, 9.3% and 8.8% respectively compared with 2019.
